Lanius Collurio caught 7years after its ringing.

Today I went to Veshtica because I had to help my father gather the honey from our bee hives. Meanwhile I set up the nets and caught four birds. 1 Great tit,1 young Robin,1 female Black-Cap and Red-backed Shrike with a ring. After a reference I saw that the bird was ringed by my father on 27.06.2004 in a nest.Seven years later the bird was in perfect health.

Finally some ringing

Today I came home :) The first thing I did was to go to my village and set up the net. I ringed two Robins and one male Blackcap. I also found Red-backed Shrikes nest. So I'm happy now , I finally made some ringing :)

My new book

Yesterday I finally bought Pocked Birds of Britain and Europe. I'm very happy because It's very hard to find so useful books here in Bulgaria :)

More snakes and turtles

My brother and father went to Dunav river for fishing.They caught only one small fish and they released it. The pictures below are of water snake and a turtle.

Oriolus oriolus and Lanius Collurio nest

Today my brother and my father managed to rind three Golden Orioles. They also took pictures of them. I've never ringed an Golden oriole so I consider it for a big success. My brother also send me pictures of 5 little Lanius Collurio in their nest.

Lanius Senator in Northwestern Bulgaria

Yesterday a received a call from my father in Belogradchik. He told me that he saw a male LAnius Senator hunting near the road. I was very surprised because for nine years of ringing I had never seen that bird.
There is no chance Lanius Senator to be mistaken with Lanius Collurio as you can see below.

As you can see that Lanius Senator isn't a typical bird for northwestern Bulgaria.
